Trump Says Puerto Ricans Are His Least Favorite Kind Of Mexican
President Donald Trump launched an attack on San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz on Saturday for criticizing the White House’s hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico, accusing her of “poor leadership” and suggesting that the island’s residents are not doing enough to help themselves.
President Trump expressed his views in a multi-post Twitter rant: “I told you, these people are screwing it up left and right. This is why they keep sneaking over our borders, because their country is falling to pieces!” Trump Tweeted. “What we need to do is build a wall between Puerto Rico and America to keep these people out. My LEAST favorite of them all.”
Trump’s comments slamming Puerto Rico were quickly removed, but not before others voiced their own response, sparking a firestorm of reaction online, including from the creator of the Broadway musical “Hamilton,” Lin-Manuel Miranda, who said that Trump was going “straight to hell.”
