The Last Golden Girl: Betty White Dead At Age 95
Betty White was officially confirmed deceased today after her family made the shocking announcement to reporters. After years and years of death hoaxes about the iconic actress, Betty White has finally succumbed to the age old reports. Her family said she “went peacefully surrounded by family” and “lived a rich and full life with no regrets.”
Her family also shared Betty’s last words with reporters. “She looked around the bed and with her last breath said ‘I may be dying, but so what? I’m still hot.’ Then closed her eyes and drifted away. Even in her last moments she was full of laughter.”
Betty Marion White Ludden was born January 17, 1922 and known professionally as Betty White. She was an American actress and comedian, with the longest television career of a female entertainer. Regarded as a pioneer of television, she was one of the first women to have control both in front of and behind the camera; and was recognized as the first woman to produce a sitcom, which contributed to her receiving the honorary title Mayor of Hollywood in 1955.
She was known for her Emmy Award-winning roles as Sue Ann Nivens on The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1973–77) and Rose Nylund on The Golden Girls(1985–92). The Writers Guild of America had included both sitcoms in its list of the 101 Best Written TV Series Of All Time. A staple guest of many American game shows such as Password, Match Game, and The $25,000 Pyramid, White had been dubbed the ‘First Lady of Game Shows’ and became the first woman to receive an Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host in 1983 for the show Just Men! From 2010 to 2015, she starred as Elka Ostrovsky in the TV Land sitcom Hot in Cleveland, for which she has won two consecutive Screen Actors Guild Awards and she was nominated for an Emmy Award.
She was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1995 and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6747 Hollywood Boulevard alongside the star of her late husband Allen Ludden. Fans will hold a tribute to White at her Hollywood star this week in honor of her memory.
